Come on, talk about those maggot b*stard politician’s plane gettin’ shot at. We got some real patriots over there in Iraq! http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/31/world/middleeast/31attack.html?_r=1&ref=world&oref=slogin vineyardsaker on August 31, 2007 at 11:15 am Scott – your phone line is not plugged in – please connect to it Nate on August 31, 2007 at 11:38 am Can someone provide facts on the empty prisons that Will speaks of ? xenos on August 31, 2007 at 11:43 am Will Grigg just said he isn’t aware of any anti-state leftists. I can think of one: Noam Chomsky. vineyardsaker on August 31, 2007 at 11:52 am Scott – nobody would ask a vegetarian why people like steaks, nor would you ask a tree-hugging ecologist why people like to hunt, nor would you ask a homosexual why straight people find the other sex attractive. Why in the world would you ask a totally anti-Leftist/anti-Liberal what Left/Liberals believe and why they believe it?! That makes for entertaining quotes, but for lousy understanding of reality. I am not much of a leftist (or rightwinger for this matter), but even I can see all the nonsense your guest is saying about left-liberal values and logic. Why don’t you invite a counterpunch like guest or even, say, Greg Palast to answer these questions. Even better, get a European guest on your show to discuss these issues and see what they would have to say. My 2cts. xenos on August 31, 2007 at 11:55 am If you’re going to have a leftist on, I’d love to hear Alexander Cockburn. Or the guy I mentioned previously, Noam Chomsky, but I’m sure Chomsky is just a little bit more difficult to book than Cockburn. Bob Bogus on August 31, 2007 at 11:56 am Hah! Dang dude, just get Will Grigg to come on your show once a week and tell jokes. He shudda done stand up. Bob Bogus on August 31, 2007 at 12:04 pm That Will Grigg’s got some great Rush Scumbaugh jokes. darin on August 31, 2007 at 12:25 pm wayne sounds full of shit. Bob Bogus on August 31, 2007 at 12:28 pm Hey Wayno, so what if Iran has a weapons program? Since when do you or George Bush get to decide what kinds of weapons other countries get to have? SteveC on August 31, 2007 at 12:38 pm Hey Wayno, so what if Iran has a weapons program? Since when do you or George Bush get to decide what kinds of weapons other countries get to have? DAMN RIGHT! THAT’S AIPAC’S JOB! SteveC on August 31, 2007 at 12:39 pm Scott: I’m closing my monthly books today. Please archive today’s show. Tom S. on August 31, 2007 at 12:47 pm Wayne W. said that congressional approval would be tough for Bush should he announce he’s going to invade Iran, but didn’t Congress already give the go ahead in that last funding bill for Iraq (against something Jim McDermott wanted to put in the bill)? SteveC on August 31, 2007 at 1:11 pm FYI, I believe GWB could circumvent the need for Congressional approval simply by decaling significant factions w/in Iran “terrorist organizations” and then make war on these “terrorist organizations” as oposed to a war against Iran as a Country. TThe civilians will be dead either way. Scott on August 31, 2007 at 1:59 pm I wasn’t trying to ask Grigg to explain the left, but to explain to them that they are all dupes of the conservatives they think they oppose. White was explicit – ya’ll may have missed it – he said he was a rare breed in that he thinks they are making nukes and that he thinks the US should do nothing about it at all, especially not war. Scott on August 31, 2007 at 2:00 pm Nate – he referred to a WND piece from this morning – not sure if actual facts can be found there… Scott on August 31, 2007 at 2:01 pm Tom S., etc., I think you’re right that he won’t go to congress and doesn’t think he has to. I think Nancy will do nothing. Reid, less. Bob Bogus on August 31, 2007 at 3:29 pm Scott, The Stress Blog is gettin’ pretty stressed. I received the bandwidth exceeded a couple of times just now plus last weekend I think. Bob Bogus on August 31, 2007 at 4:47 pm Hot off the press. You boyz see this? Underdog Paul lights political passion http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2007-08-31-paul-supporters_N.htm?csp=34 Slim on September 1, 2007 at 2:34 am Leftism is by definition pro-state. Chomsky may be against *this* particular state at *this* particular time, but that doesn’t change the fact that leftism is pro-state. If people want to take your guns away, they’re pro-state. If people want to set up big welfare programs, they’re pro-state. If people want to write huge volumes of regulations to tell businesses how they can and can’t operate, whom they must or may not hire, and what they must or may not pay them, and wether they must forbid someone to light up a cigarette of their own free will on their premises, they’re pro-state. If people want to subsidize everything of which they approve, and ban everything of which they disapprove, they’re pro-state. If people want to pour even more egregious sums into the government propaganda education cartel, they’re pro-state. If people want to tell you that you *must* buy health insurance with money that you freely earned and should be able to dispose of any damn way you want, they’re pro-state. As I posted under another topic; the war has brought me to the understanding that the Republican/Conservative/Limbaughist thinking of which I was once convinced was full of shit. That doesn’t mean that Democratic/Liberal/Clintonist thinking isn’t full of shit too. Scott on September 1, 2007 at 2:47 am Got that right.
