Maharrey reviews the arguments that federal and state officials have been using against the Defend The Guard legislation at some of the recent state legislative hearings. In this interview, he zeroes in on a couple that he considers to be the strongest. Maharrey lays out those arguments and explains why they fall short.

Dhafir was arrested in 2003 during the run-up to the Iraq War and accused of funding terrorism, though he was ultimately convicted of trumped-up non-terrorism offenses, most involving Medicare fraud. He remains in prison and is still fighting for release.
