4/8/19 Medea Benjamin Rates the Democratic Presidential Candidates on Foreign Policy

Medea Benjamin joins the show for a rundown of some of the democratic presidential candidates’ positions on war and the military-industrial complex. Some candidates, like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, are better now than they once were, perhaps due to increased public awareness of atrocities like the war in Yemen. Others, like Tulsi Gabbard, have always been principled in their opposition to unnecessary wars. But for the most part, of course, democrats want foreign wars and big military budgets just like the republicans do.

Discussed on the show:

  • “War, Peace and Presidential Candidates” (CODEPINK)
  • “LATE SHOW with David Letterman – September 11, 2002 Bill Clinton, Nanci Griffith (FULL SHOW)” (YouTube)
  • Venture For America

Medea Benjamin is the co-founder of the women-led peace group CODEPINK and the co-founder of the human rights group Global Exchange. She is the author of ten books, and writes regularly for The Guardian, The Huffington Post, CommonDreams, Alternet, and The Hill, among others. Find her on Twitter @medeabenjamin.
