According to news agencies reports, Abbas has demanded that the Israelis release Marwan Barghouti, arguably the last credible secular Palestinian leader left. Such an idea, whether it actually happens or not, has huge ramifications for the dynamics of the Middle-East. Read my discussion of this issue on my blog. This is, potentially, big stuff!
The other interesting thing this morning is that the Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni wrote an article for the Arab Language London-based newspaper al-Sharq al-Awsat calling for a united front by Israel, Fatah and, presumably, the USA, against Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran. Oh well, let her try to sell that idea to the Palestinian people. LOL! 🙂
