Enough about the Mosque already!

Everybody has weighed in on the question of whether or not there ‘should be’ a Mosque built where the twin towers fell on 9/11. It seems most people are against the idea because they say it would hurt the feelings and be a slap in the face to the memory of the 3,000 who died on 9/11.

I wonder if all of these people who are against it were also against the U.S. government building their ‘Fortress America’ embassy right smack in the middle of downtown Baghdad?

Surely, most people in Iraq or in the middle east would view our doing this as being inconsiderate of the feelings of those who have been affected by our violence over there for the past several years, if not generations. They must view the biggest embassy in the world, which cost $1.3 billion and is the size of Vatican City, as insulting to the memory of the 3 million we have killed in Iraq over the past 20 years.

It was not Islam that caused 9/11, it was the U.S. government’s militarization, desecration, aggression and killing in the mid-east, which infuriated Bin Laden enough to launch a Jihad against the U.S. government and those who enable it (us).

To them it must seem like the imperial-Christian-crusaders have erected a temple to their war-Gods, and as a daily reminder of the Iraqi’s past and as a preview of their future.

And we’re whining about a Mosque.
