I am voting today for Chuck Baldwin. My letter explaining why was published this past Friday and I spoke about him to as many people as possible. By doing nothing, the only message we are sending is that we have given up. Vote for Chuck Baldwin or Ralph Nader or Cynthia McKinney or even Bob Barr. All are better than the two other knuckleheads. As I summarized in my Letter to the Editor, John Quincy Adams always said to vote on “Principle”. I am listening to him and Ron Paul, who endorsed Baldwin. I think JQ Adams and Ron Paul are right.Â
My last vote was for Ron in the primary. I am not giving up, only withdrawing my consent.
Today I practised defensive voting and said no to all of California’s onerous propositions. There were two different proposals to build commuter trains, for chrissakes. The one in my area was to be funded through a sales tax and the other was to be funded by taxing future generations with bonds. I hope that both those measures eat it so hard that no one even bothers brining them up for a vote again. I did not vote for president or congress. Waste. Of. Time.
While driving south through Chicago early today, I saw a sign hanging over hanging over Lake Shore Drive that read, “Whoever You Vote for, the Government Wins”. It’s nice that at least some people will see this before seeing the CNA building with “VOTE” spelled out several hundred feet high in the windows. Maybe even some of the fools heading to see the anointed future dictator at Grant Park will see it. The Hancock Center was lit up with red, white and blue lighting, and police were out around Grant Park for the gathering of the delusional.
